世界一「自由な」会社
日本語版の『NO RULES 世界一「自由な」会社 NETFLIX』もほぼ同時に出版されているが、読みやすそうだったので原書で読んでみる。
「はじめに」は2000年に経営難に陥っていたNetflixが当時ビデオレンタル業界の王者であったBlockbusterに身売りに行く話から始まる。当時のブロックバスターは、$36Mの売上($58Mの赤字）しかなかったNetflixの何千倍もの大きさだった。

by 2010, Blockbuster declared bankruptcy. Blockbuster had been unable to adapt from DVD rental to streaming.
しかし、その後、ブロックバスターはDVDレンタルからストリーミングの流れに乗れず、2010年倒産する。2000年のブロックバスターには、ブランドも、経営資源も、ビジョンもあった。では、ブロックバスターになくて、Netflixにあったものは何だったのか？

There is no policy or tracking. There is also no clothing policy at Netflix, but no one comes to work naked.
Employees love Netflix also. In a 2018 survey conducted by Hired (a dot-com marketplace for tech talent), tech workers rated Netflix as the No.1 company they'd most like to work for.
