Taipei 101
I left Narita this afternoon and I am in Taiwan for the first time!
In the evening, Jessica, who stayed with us in Tokyo up until a year ago, took us first to a Chinese restaurant in Mitsukoshi(!) and then to the world's tallest building, Taipei 101.
Taipei 101 is 509 meter high and has 101 stories above ground and 5 underground. It has its status of the world's tallest building since its opening in 2005 until, supposed to be the completion of The Burj Dubai, which is expected in September this year.
I think it kinds of represents Taiwan - it was constructed by Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean JV, managed by an American company, its world's fastest lift that runs over 60km/h at its peak was made by Toshiba. They shop around the world for the best value!
